Girls present artwork on the doorstep of 10 Downing Street
Beverley students took their 1GOAL petition to 10 Downing Street.

On July 21st 2010, teachers Miss Wendy Butler (head of RE) and Mrs Clare Breen (Assistant Head Teacher) took 4 girls, Mhairi Tordoff; Charlotte Lade; Rosie Cooper and Eleanor Johnstone to 10 Downing street to hand in the petition. They were met there by Graham Stewart MP.

The girls knocked on the door and made the following speech:
‘We are representatives of Beverley High School. We are here today to present the British Government with a petition to remind them of the millennium goal pledge they made to achieve universal primary education by 2015. We believe this is important because every child has a right to an education and we understand how important this is for a child’s future. We made this petition in RE lessons as part of an International Day where we learnt about aspects of culture and society of South Africa. We would like you to present out petition to Mr Cameron on our behalf in the hope that he takes this with him to the international meeting on this issue in September.’
