Students at Matthew Moss High School have taken part in the Send My Friend to School campaign, sending over 700 letters to their local MP.
Every student from years 7, 8 and 9 wrote a letter to their MP, Simon Danczuk, asking him to remind David Cameron of the promise to ensure education for all. They also designed ‘ideal’ teacher cut-outs. Mr. Danczuk then came to visit the school, and was greeted by learners of year 9, lined up around the whole of the front of the school, carrying hundreds of figures representing the 1.7 million teachers missing in the world.
Mr Danczuk spent an hour with the students, who asked him questions about what he would do once the campaign had finished and how much he knew about the campaign itself. “I am so impressed with the learners here,” he said. He promised to put the issue higher on his agenda.
