Isambard Community School

At Isambard Community School in Swindon, pupils put on assemblies to educate their peers about the Send my Friend to School campaign. This encouraged other pupils to get involved by buying wristbands, writing letters to their MP and liking the Facebook page.

After letter writing, pupils sent them off to their local MP Justin Tomlinson, and he spoke at the school about why it’s important that every child gets an education.

The next stage was to write letters together to Prime Minister David Cameron – who amazingly responded.

Pupils wanted to spread the word about the campaign, and put on an assembly at a local primary school.

Pupil Victoria Shoeps said: “We have all loved campaigning and we plan to go to even more primary schools to talk about how important it is for every child around the world to get an education.”

Work experience at Send my Friend to School

Victoria recently did work experience at the Send my Friend to School campaign, where she spoke with people in the media and sent press releases to newspapers and radio stations. She also helped organise the parliamentary reception and saw all the hard work that went into such a huge task.

She said: “I decided to do my work experience here because I really feel passionately that every child should get an education. I love going to school and I love all the things I get to do there; I can’t imagine what life would be like without an education.”
